What we can learn from the success of the 2024 Bar Exams for Lawyers.

1:49 PM, December 13, 2024. The Bar exam results are out! The legal community is buzzing with excitement over the outcomes. Many candidates have made the list of successful applicants, while others will need to try again. For me, simply participating in the Bar exam is already an achievement—law school is challenging, and graduating is a significant accomplishment in itself. While many are called to the profession, only a few are chosen, and that’s what law school represents for me. Being a student on this journey means you are among those who can make a difference in the world.

When the results are released, it’s hard not to check social media and read the countless posts from those who passed, congratulating them on their success. From these messages, I realize that the support and faith of those around us are essential in all our endeavors. Why is this important? Because sometimes we become blind to our own dreams, making it difficult to recognize our worth or capabilities—and that’s when self-doubt creeps in. It often takes someone with a different perspective to help us see our strengths and value. It is safe to say that we are shaped by the hopes and dreams of those who surround us. Most successful individuals want support, as the journey can be lonely, and it’s vital to have others who can see our potential when we cannot.

Pursuing our dreams, especially the big ones, inevitably involves sacrifices. These sacrifices can take various forms and often lead us to give up other dreams, friendships, or relationships with loved ones. It’s a trade-off, and making wise choices is essential. For me, I’m currently living a life that many people aspire to. I have a good job that compensates me fairly for my efforts, and I can assert my worth when necessary, although thankfully, I don’t have to do it often. Living in a place where travel is accessible also makes it easier for me to explore. I’ve made friends and settled in a beautiful city. However, once the parties are over and I find myself alone in my room, I begin to question everything. Was I made for this? Is this the dream I envisioned, or just an illusion I’ve created to convince myself that I’ve achieved something meaningful and that my life is valid?

I’ve realized that when you start questioning your reality, it can be a sign that your current situation might not align with your true desires. When you are living in your truth, you don’t feel the need to question your reality. This realization has become clear to me recently. Reading posts about people who have passed the Bar exam made me reflect on my own truth. It became evident that, like these successful individuals, I have supportive people who believe in me, and I should never doubt myself again.

The bigger the dreams, the harder the pursuit—and the more significant the impact on others. I believe that dreams aimed at the greater good are the most profound. The idea of dreaming for change is often overlooked, as we may feel compelled to accept our reality without question. While it may sound idealistic, striving to effect change in the world is a worthy legacy, no matter how big or small that change may be.
